A little humour from PNG

So much for all the grading I have to do… the internet is working too well to be ignored!  Only sending this for the humour — nothing else!

This is a direct quote from a paper one of the students wrote half-way through the English Refresher Course.  Paul’s wife Helen is a student also and they have a family here with them.  There was NO suggestion by me of what to write — just be creative and praise the Lord for bringing you here.

This is the sixth and last paragraph:  “Faculty, staff and students at all levels have been wonderful.  They come from everywhere in PNG and from overseas, living, working and studying in the beautiful community.  One of the staff members is Kay Middleton who is from America.  She is our English Lecturer for the English Intensive course.  This week she took us through nearly all the different English skills and it is wonderful having her.  She is energetic and motivated even though she has reached old age.  And it is my prayer that God will continue to give her new strength each day and extend her years on earth!  Amen!”

Aren’t you impressed that someone could teach nearly all the English skills in a week?  And aren’t you laughing about my old age?  Always humbling to be around young people, no?  I LOVE IT!!!!

P.S.  I will take all the prayer I can get!

Lovely family!

God’s mysterious ways

My good friend, Heather, broke her wrist months and months ago and has been in severe pain ever since.  Even several months home in Australia with specialists and therapy has not solved the problem.

Today when I visited her, she had vacuumed and cleaned the bathroom!  What?????

Saturday I gave her an absorbent little cover to put around a glass.  I had brought them from home since I never use them there and grabbed it as I was going to visit her because it was purple — her favorite color. ( Why I even brought them I don’t know, except they weigh nothing and it is all about kilos when I fly!)

“The Lady in Purple”

Yesterday she was WEARING it on her injured wrist and said she could type more easily.  Today…. vacuuming!  She is ecstatic and I am praising the Lord for His amazing intervention in our lives in the littlest things — that I brought it, that I gave it to her only because she likes purple.  The result?   She is experiencing some relief from pain!

P. S. The next day she had scrubbed her floors! And she is able to be at the computer more and continue writing a correspondence course. Really such an answer to prayer!

WHAT AN AMAZING GOD!!!!   We give HIM all the glory and praise!!!

Back in PNG!!

As always, the Lord does far more than we can ever ask or imagine.  Thanks for praying about my flight.  It was totally uneventful — no luggage issues and good connections.  Was able to get my png cell phone reactivated.  Was never tired and have been fine since.  All praise and credit to the Lord Jesus.  I enjoyed all the flights.

It is Friday noon here and I am pretty set for Monday for five hours of classes (although had to make some adjustments since the copier is not working).  But all is well and I can’t wait to meet the new students and get started!

It is so much fun to be welcomed so warmly by previous students and staff I have known over the years.  Two dinner invitations in three nights!  Can’t beat that!   I can’t express my gratefulness to the Lord for giving me this opportunity.

ALMOST ON MY WAY

IMG_4735Leaving in about 24 hours for Year 6 in PNG!!! I am excited, per usual! I begin on the 12th with 30 new students for 5 hours a day for two weeks of intensive English review, then will  be teaching English and Study Skills during Feb. and March.   After that…. two weeks with Dan and Janet in “The Bush”!!! Won’t be back in CA until April 21.

Please pray for an “uneventful trip” — (translation: good connections and no lost luggage)!
Also pray that I will have great wisdom in meeting the students’ needs for College level study!

Thanks so much.
